More information:

Salamanca’s old city is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.  It is the most important University City in Spain.  Its University is in fact the oldest in Spain and is world-renowned.  Salamanca is also famous for its artistic wealth: cathedrals, palaces, churches … all built by the most competent artisans in styles including Romanesque, Gothic, Plateresque and Baroque.  Our sightseeing tour is led by a local guide who introduces you to the essence of Salamanca.  The visit includes the Museum (Museo de Salamanca), the Plaza MayorHouse of the Conchas and also theCathedral.

Avila is one of the cities with the highest number of Romanesque and Gothic churches.  It’s a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is the highest provincial capital in Spain.  This Castilian walled city is protected by the Sierra de Gredos mountain range.  Within the walls and its districts we find churches, convents, monumental buildings and small winding streets, all retaining the character of its history as one of the strongholds of the peninsula where medieval life flourished.  Avila was also a production centre for textiles.  Avila has a huge number of religious buildings, both inside and outside the city walls, which are connected with the life of the Holy Saint Teresa of Jesus.

The Walls of Avila are much more than a device of war, they’re the keeper of the city’s history and secrets and have seen its people come and go with the passage of time.

The b, dedicated to San Salvador, is a tourist attraction not to be missed.  After the Re-conquest, the people needed to fortify the city.  Thisfortress-cathedral combines battlements, merlons and lookout walks perfectly to create a unified and impressive structure.
