More information:
This trip strikes a perfect balance between culture and nature. We enjoy the beautiful architectural legacy (including the church, new bridge over the river Tajo and the famous bullring of Ronda) and also a masterpiece of the natural world, namely the Peñon de los Enamorados (Rock of the Lovers) or the Torcal of Antequera.
Ronda (which has a diameter of 40 km) is situated in the enormous Serrania de Ronda. It’s located on top of a ravine which is 120 meters deep and 70 meters wide, in the heart of a surreal and remarkable landscape.
The poet Rainer Maria Rilke wrote about Ronda: ‘I have searched everywhere the city of my dreams, and finally I have found it, in Ronda … There is nothing more unexpected in Spain then this wild mountain city.’
Antequera is in the heart of Andalusia. According to the famous Spanish Poet Gerardo Diego, it’s ‘the city of the white churches of Gongora’. Located in the foothills and protected by the famous mountains of El Torcal of Antequera on one side and looking over the extensive fertile agricultural area of Vega, Antequera is a monumental city with an ancient history.
Nature has provided Antequera with countless attractions. The most important of all is the Torcal natural reserve, a unique place in Europe. It contains millions of limestone rock formations created by the erosion of the calcareous rock. Following the indicated route through this landscape, the first time you see the Torcal you will be astounded as your imagination conjures up different figures from the stone shapes. This area is also home to a wealth of flora and fauna.
